Subscription Box Loves

Ever since becoming a mom, convenience has been the name of the game.  Believe it or not, it's difficult to even find time to get to the market.  Therefore, I'd say about 99% of my shopping happens online now.  Subscription boxes have become a staple for me.  I used to be subscribed to birchbox, the makeup/skincare sample service, but a girl only needs so many sample packets.  Once I found out about these 3 below, I was hooked.

First, is my citrus lane subscription box.  It's a service that delivers stuff that my baby can use.  I should also mention that ever since becoming a mom, I have developed a baby stuff buying addiction.  If there's an AA group for that, I probably should join it.  But, in my defense, if there's something that can help make our lives easier, funner, or smarter for baby, what parent would deny that?  I've gotten 3 boxes so far, and I've really liked/used every item I've received.  In my most recent august box, my favorite item was a growth chart.  I have been meaning to get one for Ethan, so it was perfect that they sent one.  If anything, I feel like their shop is a good resource to view a curated collection of items that are of high quality and usefulness.  In the past, I've gotten gift ideas that way for other kiddos.

They have specials sometimes that make your first box $10 or monthly boxes $19...something like that.  Anyway, if you're interested, here's my link that'll take 50% off your first box:

Nomming time is always a good time, right?  As mentioned previously, I can barely find time to make it to the market anymore, so finding yummy snacks is next to impossible.  You could say, just don't snack so much then!  But, with breastfeeding, and lack of overall sleep, my mouth is always itching to nom on something.  I had found myself snacking on unhealthy things because they're on the kitchen counter as gifts from people or readily available via the vending machine from work, so in an attempt to make healthier choices, I signed up for naturebox.  I first heard about it from family vloggers on youtube called The Shaytards.  I've gotten 3 boxes thus far, and they have been pretty good indeed.  My absolute favorite is the Roasted Kettle Kernels which is like kettle popcorn but in cornuts form.  If there ever is a snack I don't like, they'll give me credit back to apply to my next box.  It's pretty much a win-win situation.  I currently have 3 free boxes I can give away to friends when they sign up, so let me know if you're interested and I can send you an email.  Otherwise, you can sign up at naturebox.com.  They have subscription services from $15/month to $19/month.

Lastly, is my most recent subscription to Stitch Fix.  It's a personal styling service that looks at your needs and sends you 5 pieces of clothing for purchase.  You pay $20 for the styling fee, but it is applied to your purchase if you make one.  You pay for what you want to keep, and return the rest at no cost to you.  Since becoming a mom, I've lost all sense of style, if I ever had one to begin with (doubtable).  So, I've found myself needing a bit of help finding a new style that will suit my needs as a breastfeeding, working mom.  I'm highly anticipating my next box because I really loved my first one.  They really got my style spot on, and sent me items that I would have never considered for myself, but work great.  I also like how they provide a pamphlet with photo guides on how to pair the pieces they sent.  I only wish you could have the option to purchase the whole outfit depicted (yea, I'm lazy).  They use pinterest a lot, so it's fun seeing people's "fixes" as well to see what kind of clothes they stock.  If you're interested in checking it out, you can click here.

  1. Oooooh the temptation of newly discovered subscription boxes! I used to subscribe to Goodies and also enjoyed all the snacks. Thank you again for gifting Bentley with BarkBox! It shipped and can't wait to see him enjoy his goodies!

Sacrifice

Having a second child has been more difficult for me than expected.  I was not prepared for the heartache of what literally felt like a breaking up or falling out with the love of my life: my first born.  I had not read about this in any blogs, vlogs, or anything.  I mean, I had read about the difficulty of managing your time between two kids, but no one mentioned how difficult it would be to step back from your obsession with your first and only child to love another.  It did make me resent my time alone with Leila a bit in the beginning because that meant Ethan was off having fun with daddy while I was stuck at home sustaining a newborn.  My first love was learning about a life beyond mama.  It felt like knife wounds to the heart.  This is how I came to realize what it really means to sacrifice.  I willingly give up something that I hold so dear and close to my heart for the sake of someone else.  It hurts and it is an uphill battle to try...

The Most Favorite Gifts

I love giving gifts.  I think I definitely inherited the habit from my Mom, who's a big giver in general.  When she can't give objects, she gives her love in the form of her time, home-cooked food, and heart.  Giving gifts is definitely one of her dominant love languages.  I don't think receiving gifts is one of mine, but I definitely enjoy giving gifts.  There's something about dwelling on the person you're trying to find the perfect gift for, and trying to think about what is something that they need or appreciate in their lives that they wouldn't buy for themselves.  To me, it goes beyond just the act of buying and giving the gift.  I enjoy reminiscing about all the good times I've spent with that person because I'm thinking back on what we've done together to try to discern what a perfect gift might be.  As I peruse through about a dozen gift guides from blogs or youtube, I get excited when I find something that reminds me of someone.  Th...

It's Okay to Not Be Okay in 2020

This year has been, what can we say; Disruptive, strange, and hard.  We were supposed to go on an epic Japan adventure sans kids for the first time, party at the BTS concert together, and explore more of LA as a family to name a few of our plans.  Instead, we tried to make the most of remote learning, rearranged our home to accommodate two work from home parents, worked our butts off to retain both of our jobs, and found small ways to keep the sanity. To focus on the bright spots though: 1. We are now raising some cute fish in a 10 gallon tank 2. Tie dying has become a family hobby 3. We enjoy quality family time every weekend with a lunch {& boba drinks} & movie date (Disney's Onward and Netflix's Over the Moon are standout favs)  4. Netflix & Kdrama has become a fond pastime for Eleen & Lucas (Netflix's Signal and It's Okay to Not Be Okay are excellent) 5. No one has been sick for a whole year (with kids in preschool & elementary school normall...
