All-time favorite mixtape

I wrote this post back in August of last year, but never posted it for some reason or other.  I've added a few to the list now, but here we go...

Do you remember the days when you would make a mixtape?  I don't remember making that many for other people, but I remember making them for listening to in the car.  Honestly, most of them weren't really 'tapes,' but were CDs.  I've come to realize that there is a type of song that no matter how old or new it is, I'm instantly attracted to it.  When listening to a recent Ted radio hour podcast, I realized I wanted to make a post about my all-time favorite songs.  The podcast talked about how people tend to favor songs that sound similar to ones they already know as opposed to songs that sound completely different.  So, you're more likely to not change the radio station if a song comes on that you don't like, but you've heard a billion times, just because of its familiarity.  So, I thought about my all-time favorite songs, and I think I do have a type of song that I find myself easily attracted to.  I favor songs that are stripped down, with a strong melodic beat, and generally, have a slow-tempo, "sexy" feel to them.  There are lots of other songs I love, but these I could have on repeat and never grow tired of:

1. Gina Rene - U Must Be
2. Robi Draco Rosa - Dancing in the Rain
3. Late Night Alumni - Beautiful
4. Justin Bieber - Boyfriend
5. Selena Gomez - The Heart Wants What it Wants
6. Selena Gomez - Hands to Myself
7. Robin Thicke - Lost Without You
8. Jamie Cullum - What a Difference a Day Made (live at Blenheim Palace)
9. Jason Mraz - Life is Wonderful
10. John Mayer - Gravity
11. Kelly Clarkson - Miss Independent (live AOL sessions)
12. Drake - Marvin's Room (as covered by Daniel de Bourg and Jennifer Chung)
13. Meghan Trainor & John Legend - Like I'm Gonna Lose You (as covered by Clara C and Joseph Vincent)
14. Sting - Until
15. Adele - Million Years Ago

Here's a playlist of the songs on youtube:

Do you have a top list that you could have on repeat at anytime, anywhere, that you would consider your jam?

It's Okay to Not Be Okay in 2020

This year has been, what can we say; Disruptive, strange, and hard.  We were supposed to go on an epic Japan adventure sans kids for the first time, party at the BTS concert together, and explore more of LA as a family to name a few of our plans.  Instead, we tried to make the most of remote learning, rearranged our home to accommodate two work from home parents, worked our butts off to retain both of our jobs, and found small ways to keep the sanity. To focus on the bright spots though: 1. We are now raising some cute fish in a 10 gallon tank 2. Tie dying has become a family hobby 3. We enjoy quality family time every weekend with a lunch {& boba drinks} & movie date (Disney's Onward and Netflix's Over the Moon are standout favs)  4. Netflix & Kdrama has become a fond pastime for Eleen & Lucas (Netflix's Signal and It's Okay to Not Be Okay are excellent) 5. No one has been sick for a whole year (with kids in preschool & elementary school normall...

oh yea, there's that

I knew I would be learning a whole lot when we decided to have a baby, but there are a few things I never expected to pick up along the way.  1. I know how to properly fold a fitted sheet      I also know how to neatly put away all the bed sheets into a nice little pouch thanks to pinterest, but that's besides the point.  One of the not so fun things of getting a whole lot of baby stuff is unpackaging everything.  Especially the toys, oh my word.  There is a twist tie, or more commonly, those plastic circle jail thingies in every nook and cranny.  Twist ties are also not sufficient sometimes as they usually have to have tape over themselves too.  But, back to the fitted sheet: not that I bought a huge amount of crib sheets, but I'm a fan of sheets in general.  So, after opening a few of them, I started noticing a trend of how they were folded.  I think I took notice of how they are folded because crib sheets are so sm...

A New Outlook on Motherhood & Life

Before having children, I hated children.  I couldn’t understand them, and found them incredibly annoying.  I never gave a second thought to being a mom unlike some who aspire to be one their whole lives.  One day, I would become a mom after marriage and that would be that.  The only fact I knew for sure was that I definitely wanted to have more than one   child.  Being an only child, I recognized the importance of giving the gift of a sibling to my first. Approaching motherhood going on four years now with two babes has given me new perspective on what it’s all about. I’ve been asked before on the merits of becoming a mom or having children, and while it’s easy to complain about all the difficult parts, it has always been insurmountable to fully put into words the gravity or the magnitude of such a decision on my life.  Obviously, people say, children bring such joy and a newness to life that you have left behind in your childhood or forgott...
